Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This page explains what YTDetective does with the information you provide when you use its tools. It is written to describe our actual behavior, not a generic template — if something here stops matching how the site works, this page needs to be updated before that change ships.
No accounts, no personal profiles
YTDetective has no user accounts, logins, or payment system. We do not build a profile of who you are or track you across sessions by identity.
What we process when you use a tool
When you submit a YouTube URL, handle, or video ID to a tool, that value is sent to our server to look it up (either through the official YouTube Data API or, for the Monetization and Shadowban Checkers, a plain public-page fetch) and the result is temporarily cached in our Redis store (Upstash) so repeat lookups of the same public channel or video don't re-query YouTube unnecessarily. Cache entries expire automatically — between 6 and 24 hours depending on the tool — and are not tied to who submitted them.
The Money Calculator never leaves your browser: views, country, and niche are used in a client-side calculation with no network request at all.
Server and security logs
Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and our rate-limiting system record request metadata — including IP address — for a limited time to protect the service from abuse (see the Cookie Policy for how this interacts with Cloudflare Turnstile). These logs are used for security and reliability, not analytics on individual users.
Cookies and analytics
See our Cookie Policy for the full list of what we use and how to control it. In short: a small number of strictly necessary cookies keep the site secure and working, and any analytics cookies are off until you actively opt in.
Third parties
Tool lookups are sent to the YouTube Data API (Google) or to public youtube.com pages as part of how the tools function. Our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare (hosting, bot protection) and Upstash (caching). We do not sell data, and we do not share tool inputs with advertisers.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, we process what you submit — name (optional), email (optional, only used to reply), your message, and any tool/article context or link you attach — to deliver it to our inbox through Resend, our email delivery provider (see their own privacy policy for how they handle transit). We use this data only to respond to you, never add you to a mailing list, and keep messages only as long as needed to handle them, generally up to 12 months.
Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with data protection rights, you can ask what we hold about you and request deletion by contacting us — see the Contact page. In practice, because we don't store tool inputs long-term or tie them to an identity, there is usually very little tied to any individual to retrieve or delete beyond short-lived cache and log entries.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change along with it.
This page is a plain-language description of our actual practices, not a substitute for legal advice specific to your jurisdiction.
